Assistant Professor - Design, Special Purpose or Tenure Track Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic and creative design educator who can teach in the completely online MFA program in the innovative field of design thinking. Teaching areas are flexible and may include Environment Behavior, Design Thinking, Advanced Design Studios, Teaming, Design Management, Innovation and Creativity, and/or Master’s Thesis Instruction. Candidate should be able to demonstrate innovative thought processes to teach in the completely online MFA program in the field of design thinking.

• Teach various courses in the online MFA program, including but not limited to Environment Behavior, Design Thinking, Advanced Design Studios, Teaming, Design Management, Innovation and Creativity, and Master’s Thesis Instruction.
• Develop and implement workshops, sponsored studios, and corporate collaborations.
• Conduct program recruitment and promotion of the design thinking MFA and certificate program.
• Perform national and international marketing and promotion of the program.
• Participate in travel for recruitment and professional development, and maintain on-campus interactions as required, at least 2-3 times per week.
• Contribute to program development and increase responsibilities as the program evolves.

• Minimum of a Master’s degree in Instructional Technology, Industrial Design, UX, Business, Design, or related fields, with professional experience or licensure.
• Terminal degree and/or PhD preferred.
• Documented online teaching expertise and experience preferred.
• Professional certification and/or scholarship in one’s area of expertise and professional practice desirable.
• Ability to achieve full graduate faculty teaching status and chair thesis committees.
