The Department of Art at Radford University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Graphic Design. This is a 9‑month, tenure‑track appointment with a starting date in August 2026.
The Department seeks an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design who is student‑centered, collaborative, and energetic. An ability to spark curiosity, inspire experimentation, and instill professional habits is desired for the position. Candidates should be prepared to teach all levels of graphic design and contribute to portfolio reviews. Expertise in 3D computer graphics, 3D modeling, graphics visualization, and/or digital illustration is preferred.
As a full‑time, tenure‑track appointment, candidates should be prepared to perform effectively in teaching, creative scholarship, and service.
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: collaborative oversight and operation of the graphic design program and its lab; supervising internships; mentoring and advising undergraduate and graduate students; developing courses and curricula; contributing to retention and recruitment efforts; and contributing to a positive and productive departmental culture.
Required Qualifications- A master's degree in graphic design or a related discipline, or a bachelor's degree with significant professional experience.
- A strong record of professional practice and industry experience in graphic design.
- MFA or MDes in graphic design or a related discipline.
- Record of excellence in one or more of the following areas: user experience design, motion graphics, illustration, immersive experiences, environmental graphics, data visualization, web/interaction, typography, branding, and/or design research.
