Our client is seeking an experienced senior environmental engineering leader to manage the Environmental Group within the Safety, Health, and Environmental organization. This onsite leadership role will have overall ownership of the site's environmental program, managing environmental engineers and ensuring compliance with air, solid waste, water, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:- Lead and manage a team of five Environmental Engineers supporting air, solid waste, and water compliance.
- Maintain overall ownership and responsibility for the site's environmental compliance program.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the site and governing regulatory agencies.
- Represent the site in environmental compliance matters involving the surrounding community.
- Monitor and anticipate changing regulatory requirements to proactively address potential compliance impacts.
- Ensure environmental compliance reports are prepared, reviewed, approved, and submitted ahead of required deadlines.
- Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to identify and resolve environmental compliance issues.
- Serve as the environmental subject matter expert for MOD and site-related projects.
- Develop, manage, and maintain the environmental budget.
- Manage environmental projects and priorities while ensuring regulatory and business requirements are met.
- Provide leadership, technical guidance, and oversight to environmental engineering personnel.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to environmental compliance and site operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental engineering, environmental compliance, or a related field.
- Previous experience managing people and projects.
- Strong understanding of environmental compliance programs.
- Experience working with air, solid waste, and/or water compliance requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with regulatory agencies, site leadership, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and project management skills.
- Master's degree in Environmental Science or a related field.
- Approximately 8 years of applicable environmental experience.
- Wastewater compliance experience.
- Experience supporting government customers or government-regulated programs.
- Experience with environmental permit writing.
- Experience with government compliance requirements.
- Previous experience serving as an environmental compliance lead or manager.
No security clearance requirement is specified for this position.
Additional Information:This is a 100% onsite position in Radford, VA.
Initial contract duration is 6 months.
The contract may be extended up to approximately 18 months based on budget and performance.
