Position OverviewWe are seeking a Team Leader to provide guidance and support on an ongoing basis to team members within the operation. This role directly supports the work area and builds respect for employees by putting team ideas into action in a timely manner. In this position, you will play a vital role in continuous improvements efforts and contribute to Kollmorgen’s ability to meet and exceed customer expectations.
You will be responsible for guiding and supporting an assigned group of hourly employees to achieve department goals while ensuring adherence to production schedules, maintaining quality standards, and promoting a safe and efficient work environment.
- Provide hands‑on leadership through ongoing coaching, mentoring, and training of team members
- Assist in onboarding and training new employees on equipment operation, standard work, safety procedures, and quality expectations
- Execute production schedules and monitor hourly performance to ensure on‑time delivery and productivity goals are met
- Promote continuous improvement by identifying value‑added (VA) and non‑value added (NVA) activities and implementing improvements
- Ensure adherence to company policies, safety standards, and quality procedures through regular coaching and feedback
- Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and other production teams to resolve issues and improve processes
- Maintain open communication with team members and escalated concerns related to safety, quality, delivery, or personnel
- Facilitate cross‑training and support workforce flexibility to meet operational demands
- Monitor inventory, supplies, and materials; coordinate maintenance requests as needed
- Support and lead safety initiatives, including maintaining a clean and organized work environment and participating in incident investigations and corrective actions
Skills and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution
- Demonstrated leadership ability, including coaching and influencing others
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify root cause and implement solutions
- Technical proficiency and working knowledge of assigned production area
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work in a fast‑paced environment
- Demonstrated reliability, attendance, and strong work ethic
- Ability to work extended hours, including overtime and weekends as needed
Skills and Qualifications
- Associate degree (AAS) or technical certification
- 2+ years of experience in the relevant production department
- Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
- Mechanical aptitude and hands‑on troubleshooting experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SAP systems
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently needs to stand, walk, and sit. Occasionally, the employee must climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
