Title: HVAC Installation & Repair Technician

Location: Radford City - Main Campus

Performs skilled diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and installation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems on campus. Includes closed-loop systems, chillers, commercial refrigeration equipment, cooling towers, AHUs, FCUs, VAVs, and all related equipment.

Position is designated as essential personnel.

• Reporting to the HVAC Foreman, the HVAC Technician demonstrates working knowledge of HVAC systems, equipment and experience as an HVAC Technician.
• Skill in operation of tools and equipment associated with HVAC maintenance, and experience with installation, repair, and modification of heating, ventilation, refrigeration, and air conditioning and their controls.
• Ability to perform skilled diagnosis on campus systems, including closed-loop systems, chillers, commercial refrigeration equipment, cooling towers, AHUs, FCUs, VAVs, and related equipment.
• Valid driver’s license and E.P.A. certification for handling CFC refrigerants.
• Will serve on an on-call rotation and be expected to be available for emergency call-in and overtime work.
• DPOR licensure required.

• Ability to interpret and follow mechanical drawings.
• Significant experience with a diverse university campus setting.
• Working knowledge of building HVAC controls.
