Position

Description

Associate Director, Finance Clinical Development Finance (CDF) is responsible for overall financial support for the Oncology Therapeutic Area (TA) in Global Clinical Development. The incumbent will be responsible for managing a team of financial professionals, supporting clinical cost forecasting and analytics, supporting clients and clinical sub-teams, conducting monthly close activities, tracking of actuals, and ensuring compliance for clinical out of pocket (OOP) grant spending.

The incumbent is also responsible for developing, coaching, and managing team members to meet both business and individual goals.

Under the guidance of the Oncology Clinical Development Finance Director, the Finance Associate Director will:

  • Provide financial planning, forecasting and analytical support to our Research Department Therapeutic Area Clinical Development
  • Oversee the forecast grant spend process related to Oncology Clinical Studies
  • Be the primary Finance point of contact with multiple stakeholders including Global Project and Alliance Management, Product Development Team (PDT) Leaders, and Clinical Study Managers regarding study budgets, site and vendor related payments, asset valuation and impairment
  • Develop and participate in team presentations to the Financial & Operational Review Committee, Late Development Review Committee and Discovery and Translational Research Committee
  • Support project team decision making by providing relevant financial information and insight
  • Own critical components of the Long Range Operating Plan (LROP), Budget, and Quarterly Forecasts
  • Confirm accurate accounting of all US site payments related to visits completed, milestones completed and reimbursement for out of pocket expenses according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, the Sarbanes Oxley Act as well as internal and external accounting guidance

  • Further develop your creative thinking and problem-solving skills as many problems don’t have hard anchor points or routine analytical approaches.
  • Increase your network through engagement with other business partners (BD&L, Project Mgmt., Procurement, etc.)
  • Gain experience in people management, change management, and project management
Position Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement

  • Bachelor's in business, Finance, Science or Engineering

Required Experience and Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of operations or Finance experience

Preferred Experience and Skills

  • MBA or other Masters/PhD in Business, Finance, Science or Engineering
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to develop business operations models
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Proactive approach to problem solving
  • Results and process-driven orientation
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a challenging and complex environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, build and maintain client and peer relationships
  • Sound and balanced judgment, with the ability to assess and handle risk

  • Strong computer skills especially working with SAP, BPC and MS Excel
