Job DescriptionDirect Materials Procurement – New Product Introduction is responsible for developing and implementing supplier management strategies, improving supply chain resiliency, and driving cost, supplier performance, and working capital improvements in support of manufacturing and supply of our products.
Strategic Supplier Management uses data‑driven methodology, market intelligence, and analysis to support the interphase between Research and Development and Manufacturing divisions during new pipeline product development.
General Responsibilities- Collect and present market trends, competitive environment, and industry best practices to assist in sourcing strategy.
- Collaborate with key functions to ensure seamless execution of sourcing strategy until launch + 2 years.
- Support strategic and operating procurement objectives including product sourcing, supply risk management, supplier performance improvement, cost reduction, supplier development, working capital improvement, and supplier relationship management.
- Work with cross‑functional teams including Legal, Finance, Procure‑to‑Pay, internal stakeholders, and external suppliers.
- Conduct detailed market analyses to provide deep and meaningful insights.
- Implement procurement strategies and execute tactical procurement processes, serving as a resource for processes, procedures, and systems.
- Support supplier selection to ensure appropriate savings and service levels, ensuring legal contract requirements are met, and manage relationships for optimal performance.
- Enforce compliance with Global Procurement policies and procedures using a data‑driven business case approach.
- Conduct rigorous market intelligence and detailed supplier and supply market analyses to provide insight to sourcing teams.
- Construct detailed cost models/purchase price analysis of goods and services, including supplier visits when needed.
- Conduct strategic project analysis, transforming information into well‑structured options and opportunities (e.g., portfolio analysis, supplier preferencing, day‑one sourcing).
- Prepare category spend, savings, compliance, and other metrics. Support annual budget/profit planning and maintain financial reporting systems.
- Create detailed pre‑negotiation plans, participate in prolonged negotiations, and conduct post‑negotiation debriefs.
- Create and execute RFIs, RFPs, and e‑Auctions, and analyze structured information with electronic procurement processes.
- Conduct risk assessment and mitigation, including financial solvency analysis and compliance with FCPA and business partner code.
- Act as member of category teams to develop breakthrough strategies delivering cost reduction targets.
- Share learnings and high‑quality work with colleagues throughout the Global Supplier Management Group.
- Master's degree in Engineering, Science, Supply Chain or Procurement.
- Minimum 2+ years of relevant work experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Adaptability and ability to work across multiple initiatives and communicate across organization levels.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including clear and concise presentations.
- Ability to influence external partners to drive meaningful outcomes.
- Advanced data collection, management, analytics, and reporting skills.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Ability to work independently with high flexibility and adaptability to ambiguous situations.
- Quick learner motivated to cultivate technical, business, and commercial skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Prior pharmaceutical or Fortune 500 company experience.
- Cost modeling experience.
- Experience with MS Teams, SharePoint, or similar collaboration websites.
- Experience with PowerBI or other data analytics/visualization tools.
