Overview
Our Engineers support internal and external manufacturing operations to ensure our facilities remain operational, continuously improve and innovate. With our extensive range of facilities and environments, our Engineers have opportunities across many diverse areas including Biological, Chemical, Automation, Capital Projects, Maintenance, Safety, Process Development, Technical Services, Utilities and Validation.
Responsibilities- Director Global Engineering Services Rahway Projects is responsible for leading the delivery of a large Capital Program (>$250MM).
- Guide the team to plan carefully, identify risks and mitigation strategies, track and monitor progress, escalate risks and cascade information.
- Align a cross-functional team around the project mission/work plan.
- Interface and align with key service providers of Engineering, Procurement, Equipment, Construction Management and Commissioning/Qualification services.
- Initial assignment described above; future roles and responsibilities depend on future project workload and locations.
- Manage funding review process to include: review or approve funding packages for projects, participate in Stage Setting and Commitment.
- Reviews for large regional projects; input to and participate in cross regional resource planning and workload projection.
- Develop project team metrics linked to strategy and business results, including risk and rewards programs with Tier 1 suppliers.
- Establish performance management objectives for the project in line with departmental, plant and divisional/franchise objectives.
- Manage and mentor direct reports.
- Develop close working relationships with Plant Manager(s), key stakeholders and staff within region; as a member of the Project Leadership Team, perform administrative functions (Tier Meetings, Safety/Staff Meetings, key stakeholder relationship management) to ensure department and GES deliver on business needs and staff development.
- Broad knowledge of bioprocess and infrastructure projects and requirements.
- Experience and demonstrated working relationship with operations and Builders groups.
- Knowledge of current industry trends and issues.
- Knowledge and demonstrated application of Lean Project Delivery Engineering Best Practices;
Capital Management process expertise is critical. - Risk management planning and mitigation.
- Managing/implementing commissioning, qualification, contract administration and project close-out.
This position is located in the Northeast US Region (West Point, PA / Rahway, NJ) but may require travel up to 50% of time to support projects within the Americas and internationally. Note that the first assignment will be at Rahway, NJ.
Education & Experience- Education Minimum:
Bachelor's required; concentrations in Engineering or applicable scientific or business discipline preferred. - Required
Experience and Skills:
>10 years formal engineering work experience; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proven project management excellence; knowledge of pharmaceutical product development and manufacturing facilities; GMP familiarity; construction and process safety experience; BIM usage; commissioning and qualification experience; QA/QC program experience; ability to travel 50% (including internationally).

- Preferred Experience:
Lean Project Delivery Methodologies; experience conducting project activity within operating facilities and planning for work during shutdowns. - Salary range: $ - $; eligible for annual bonus and long-term incentive where applicable.
