Senior Reliability and Vibration Analyst

Condition Monitoring | Predictive Maintenance | Rotating Equipment

Location:

Rahway, New Jersey

Work Arrangement:
On-site

Employment Type:

Full-time

A large, highly regulated life sciences operation is seeking a senior reliability and condition-monitoring professional to strengthen the performance of its critical mechanical, electrical, utility, and process assets.

This is a hands‑on technical leadership role for someone who can move beyond collecting vibration data and independently diagnose complex equipment conditions, communicate operational risk, and help maintenance and engineering teams implement the right corrective actions.

The Senior Reliability and Vibration Analyst will serve as a subject‑matter expert in vibration analysis, predictive maintenance, rotating‑equipment diagnostics, and failure prevention. This position offers significant ownership of the condition‑monitoring program and the opportunity to influence long‑term reliability strategy across a complex, high‑visibility operation.

What You Will Do
  • Perform advanced vibration analysis on motors, pumps, fans, compressors, gearboxes, and other rotating equipment.
  • Interpret FFT spectra, time waveforms, envelope data, phase measurements, resonance testing, and equipment trends.
  • Diagnose imbalance, misalignment, looseness, bearing defects, lubrication issues, structural resonance, electrical anomalies, and other developing failure modes.
  • Conduct infrared thermography inspections across mechanical, electrical, HVAC, utility, and process systems.
  • Translate condition‑monitoring findings into clear recommendations, prioritized corrective actions, and CMMS work orders.
  • Lead or support root‑cause failure analyses and develop sustainable failure‑elimination strategies.
  • Build and continuously improve predictive‑maintenance, condition‑based monitoring, and reliability‑centered maintenance programs.
  • Review asset criticality, equipment histories, alarm limits, inspection intervals, and monitoring routes.
  • Partner with maintenance, operations, engineering, quality, and safety teams on equipment upgrades, capital projects, commissioning, and reliability improvements.
  • Produce technically sound reports that meet the documentation expectations of a regulated operating environment.
  • Coach technicians and junior analysts in vibration data collection, equipment diagnostics, and reliability best practices.
  • Promote a proactive maintenance culture focused on safety, equipment health, uptime, and lifecycle cost.
What You Bring
  • ISO Vibration Analysis Category III or IV certification is strongly preferred.
  • Category I or II certification may be considered with substantial independent vibration‑analysis and predictive‑maintenance experience.
  • Five or more years of experience in vibration analysis, condition monitoring, rotating‑equipment reliability, or predictive maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose complex equipment problems rather than simply collect route data.
  • Strong knowledge of FFT analysis, time waveforms, phase, resonance, harmonics, bearing frequencies, and rotating‑equipment failure modes.
  • Experience evaluating motors, pumps, fans, compressors, gearboxes, and related mechanical systems.
  • Working knowledge of vibration‑analysis software, infrared tools, predictive‑maintenance technologies, and CMMS platforms.
  • Experience conducting or supporting RCFA, RCM, failure‑elimination, and corrective‑action programs.
  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in engineering, engineering technology, maintenance, or a related discipline, or equivalent advanced practical experience.
  • Strong technical writing, documentation, and cross‑functional communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Infrared Thermography Level I, II, or III certification.
  • Experience with ultrasound, oil analysis, laser alignment, balancing, motor‑circuit analysis, or online monitoring systems.
  • Experience supporting pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, food processing, chemical, utility, or another highly regulated operation.
  • Familiarity with GMP‑style documentation, formal change‑control processes, quality systems, and standard operating procedures.
  • Experience mentoring analysts, technicians, or maintenance professionals.
  • CMRP, CRL, lubrication, ultrasound, or additional reliability certifications.
What Makes This Opportunity Different
  • Significant ownership of a mature and evolving reliability program.
  • Direct access to critical, technically complex equipment.
  • Visibility with maintenance, engineering, operations, and site leadership.
  • The ability to shape monitoring strategies rather than simply execute established routes.
  • A stable, highly regulated operating environment where reliability work has an immediate and measurable impact.
