Customer Service Rep
University Van Lines has been moving New Jersey families and businesses since 1975. We run our own crews and our own warehouse in Rahway. No brokers, no day-labor.
You go to a customer's home, walk through it room by room, and write down everything that is moving. Then you send it back to us. That is the whole job. You do not sell, you do not quote price, you do not carry anything.
- Visit homes and small offices by appointment, mostly within 30 minutes of Rahway
- Walk every room, closet, basement, attic, garage and shed with the customer
- Record a complete inventory - item by item, room by room, with photos
- Note stairs and flights, elevator or walk-up, driveway and parking access, long carries, doorway widths, oversized items and anything needing disassembly or a custom crate
- Ask what is going, what is being stored, and what is being left or donated
- Send the completed inventory and photos back to us the same day
Requirements:
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
- A smartphone you can take clear photos with
- Able to walk a full house including stairs, basements and attics - no lifting, no carrying
- Thorough and literal - a survey that misses a basement costs us a truck and a crew on move day
- Comfortable and professional in a stranger's home
- Available for some evening and weekend appointments, which is when most customers are home
Pay: $85 per completed survey, plus travel costs reimbursed on longer-distance appointments
Benefits and other compensation: This is an independent contractor position paid $85 per completed survey, plus reimbursement of travel costs on longer-distance appointments. There is no hourly wage, no benefits package and no guaranteed volume. Paid training on our inventory method and forms is provided at no cost. Contractors set their own availability and accept or decline each assignment.
