Manufacturing Science and Technology (MS&T) is seeking interns to join us for summer 2027. MS&T represents a collection of primarily lab based product commercialization departments and above site technical operations groups spanning large and small molecule organizations within the Manufacturing Division. A “Safety First, Quality Always” mindset, drive for continuous improvement, and innovations enable our company to be a trusted and competitive supplier of large molecule biologics and vaccines as well as small molecule pharmaceutical products to the world’s patients and customers.
Each MS&T intern will complete one or more projects over a 12 week period beginning in late May or early June 2027. This experience will provide you the opportunity to develop both technically and professionally, engage in the Company’s business and culture, and decide if we are the right company for your long-term career goals.
As an intern in MS&T, you will have the opportunity to work collaboratively in one of the following areas:
PROCESS & ANALYTICAL DEVELOPMENT AND COMMERCIALIZATION- Integrate with project teams and expand laboratory experience and skills through hands‑on participation.
- Participate in bringing chemically or biologically derived therapies to production by applying engineering, chemistry, and pharmaceutics principles to characterize and scale‑up bench or pilot‑scale processes.
- Develop, optimize, and implement innovative lab and manufacturing technologies and analytical methods.
- Use process modeling combined with statistical, data analytics, and data science tools to analyze and identify insights from process information.
- Support process technology development and transfer to commercial operation groups.
- Collaborate with operations and quality groups on the execution of strategic projects to ensure a high level of process performance and enhance world class supply for commercial products.
- Examine an issue from diverse perspectives (safety, compliance, automation, equipment, process, and people) to best understand and resolve the root cause.
- Support the transfer of products within the Company’s internal and external manufacturing network and ensure proper knowledge management.
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, science, or related disciplines. No prior experience is required.
- Available for a 12 week internship beginning in late May or early June 2027
- Primarily seeking candidates graduating between Winter 2027 and Spring 2028
- Key preferred experience / interest:
Performing lab-based research / process development as well as knowledge and basic understanding of the unit operations common in large molecule / small molecule drug substance or drug product processes (e.g. filtration, lyophilization, chromatography, reactions, tableting, fermentation, etc.) - Ability to work independently and in teams
- Effective problem-solving, collaboration, and written and oral communication skills
- Strong technical competency and a desire to innovate
- Experience in statistical design and analysis tools, computer programming, modeling, data science, and/or data analytics
