Role Overview

The Global Clinical Supply (GCS) organization is accountable for managing the end-to-end integrated clinical supply chain across the full portfolio of clinical trials. The GCS Planning organization serves as the key interface between clinical development teams and operational/executional arms within the business. This role works within the Planning Execution and Inventory Management Section of the GCS Planning organization. The Inventory Manager Clinical Supplies Project Manager (IMCSPM) creates strategic and operational plans for the downstream activities of clinical supplies for assigned studies, planning material availability and ensuring movement through the depot network to distribution and management at the clinical site.

Responsibilities
  • Participate on the Clinical Trial Team (CTT) and collaborate closely with other functional area representatives to negotiate timelines and strategy for clinical supplies.
  • Interact with key partners in GCS (Logistics and Trade, Distribution, Operations, etc.) as well as other organizations such as Global Clinical Trial Operations (GCTO), regional colleagues and Global Development Quality (GDQ) to address clinical supply related topics.
  • Establish timelines for clinical supply needs per protocol and maintain a robust signal for packaging and distribution of Clinical Finished Goods (CFGs).
  • Analyze and anticipate clinical study risks related to clinical supply chain deliverables, prepare and develop mitigation strategies for review with partners and senior leaders.
  • Utilize key tools/systems such as IRT, Microsoft Power Apps, SWMS, Veeva, MEDS, My Learning, and other Microsoft Applications in the management of clinical supplies for assigned studies.
  • Work directly in the SAP system to maintain a robust and consolidated forecast for CFGs.
  • Report clinical supply chain incidents to support metrics gathering in GCS that describe business health.
  • Participate in root‑cause analysis to identify areas for operational improvement.
  • Initiate and process change controls through collaboration with GCS Planning and cross‑functional stakeholders, following established SOPs/BPs and QMS Topic
    3.4 change control procedures and work instructions.
  • Author and process deviation records and support deviation investigations as required.
  • Engage in critical non‑pipeline and compliance activities supporting GCS Planning (e.g., process improvement initiatives, subject‑matter‑expert roles, SOP/BP development/maintenance, cross‑functional projects).
  • Support regulatory agency inspections for assigned trials as required.
  • Demonstrate strong problem‑solving capability, informed risk decision‑making, and influence portfolio decisions with facts and data.
  • Balance strategy with tactical execution, exhibiting ownership and accountability of assigned work.
  • Focus on customers and patients, make rapid, disciplined decisions, and demonstrate ethics and integrity.
Required Experience and Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, supply‑chain management, engineering or a scientific discipline, or a High School Diploma with 10+years equivalent industry experience in Pharmaceutical Clinical Supply (packaging, labeling, logistics and clinical supply inventory management).
  • At least 5years of experience in project management.
  • At least 5years of experience in planning, scheduling, coordination and processing of supply‑chain activities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at various levels, including cross‑functional teams, senior management, external vendors, and clinical sites.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and relationship‑building skills to ensure alignment and collaboration in the supply‑planning process.
  • Project‑management knowledge: principles of project management and clinical customer‑relationship management.
  • Technical proficiency with supply‑chain systems and software (e.g., SAP or Oracle), demand‑planning principles, and Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills: ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and make data‑driven decisions to optimize supply‑chain processes.
