Set Up Mechanic
We are seeking a skilled Set Up Mechanic with a strong mechanical aptitude. This role involves working in a dynamic and regulated industry environment, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in fields such as medical, aerospace, or automotive. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of relevant CNC high precision manufacturing experience with tight tolerances. A mechanical certification is a plus, as is experience with centerless grinding.
Responsibilities
- Program and set up Precision OD & Centerless Grinding Machines.
- Read and interpret complex part drawings, turning them into functional parts.
- Reduce job costs once in production.
- Set up and operate all grinding equipment, including basic setup, tool changing, and minor adjustments to ensure cycle times meet customer quotes.
- Use multiple metrology methods to verify part configuration and conformance to print specifications.
- Develop tooling and gauging to produce and measure complex part geometries.
- Troubleshoot parts during setup and run cycles to meet quoted cycle times.
- Ensure daily output is met and machines run on schedule at expected quality levels.
- Collaborate with the Contract Review team to provide estimates on new customer parts.
- Interface with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering personnel to resolve production issues.
- Maintain safety standards and comply with standard operating procedures.
- Troubleshoot machines and feeder systems, collaborating with external machine tool providers.
- Assist with special projects as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the manager.
Essential Skills
- Machine setup and troubleshooting.
- Experience with centerless grinding and CNC setup.
- Ability to perform complete setups on CNC grinder types (Gen-5, Gen-X, CAM, Tactic).
- Maintain and operate grinding equipment during production.
- Ability to troubleshoot and adjust machinery as needed.
- Replace blades and restore machines to production levels.
- Comprehensive understanding of the PK4000 for inspection during setup.
- Ability to meet production rates.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Strong mechanical background is essential.
- Experience in ISO 9001:2015 and Lean Manufacturing environments.
- Ability to solve complex issues during machining.
- Skillful in gathering and analyzing information.
- Ability to develop alternative solutions and work well in group problem-solving situations.
- Experience in precision grinder setup, operation, and editing programs.

Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Rahway, NJ.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62400.00 - $74880.00/yr. 12 paid holidays, medical, dental, vision monthly bonus potential 401k match first 3% at 100% and next 2% at 50%, vested from day one Family culture in place
