Job OverviewRobert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway offers comprehensive outpatient services and a range of acute and rehabilitative care. The Emergency Department serves over 32,000 patients annually, providing care for a variety of medical emergencies. We are a Primary Stroke Center with 24/7 telemedicine coverage, offering fast track services and access to specialty services as needed. Our department provides a broad spectrum of services including stroke care, emergency cardiac interventions, and supportive services to patients and their families.
This role supports the delivery of high-quality nursing care within the ED team.
- The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards, upholding ethical standards of practice.
- Maintain safety in practice and apply evidence-based practice, continually advancing knowledge within the patient care team.
- Report identified safety issues such as hazardous environments and medical errors.
- Remain knowledgeable about the patient population served.
- Supervise and direct delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborate with other care providers.
- Set and evaluate priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.
- Utilize the nursing process to integrate all aspects of care and individualize the plan of care for each patient.
Required:
- Minimum of one (1) year plus critical care experience; ED experience preferred.
- Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License or active Compact RN License with New Jersey endorsement
- ASN or Nursing Diploma
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Proficient computer skills
Preferred:
- CEN preferred
- BSN preferred
- Evening Shift
- Part-Time, 7PM-7:30AM, requires 2 weekend shifts per month with rotating holidays
- Provide nursing care within the scope of practice and adhere to regulatory standards and ANA code of ethics.
- Ensure safety and apply evidence-based practices; communicate with the care team to advance knowledge and patient outcomes.
- Report safety issues and medical errors promptly.
- Be knowledgeable about the patient population served.
- Supervise and direct delegation of tasks; collaborate with other care providers.
- Set and evaluate priorities with measurable outcomes.
- Act as an individual practitioner and interdisciplinary team manager, using the nursing process to address patient needs.
