Position SummaryDepartment Nurse Manager for East Jersey State Prison (Rahway, NJ). The role supervises nurses across shifts on assigned units, collaborates with physicians and other health‑care personnel to ensure the facility’s health program objectives are met, maintains nursing practice standards, and implements nursing philosophy and goals.
Responsibilities- Assist in interpreting and translating theoretical nursing concepts into services for adult (18‑64 years) and geriatric (65+ years) inmates.
- Participate in structuring organized nursing services.
- Implement nursing functions within the UCHC context.
- Use information systems to retrieve, implement and retain essential records and services.
- Direct and supervise nursing and health‑care services on the unit.
- Ensure cost‑effective use of resources and assist in unit budget preparation.
- Conduct orientations and develop self, staff, and nursing students.
- Provide leadership in quality assurance and improvement activities and train staff and correctional officers.
- Participate in decision‑making for organized nursing services.
- Graduation from a state‑accredited school of nursing.
- Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible nursing experience.
- Licensed RN in the State of New Jersey.
- CPR certification.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
- One (1) year in a specialty area of services.
Minimum: $104,118
Mid-range: $131,736
Maximum: $159,354
