Job Title: Nursing Assistant

Location: RWJBarnabas Health, Rahway

Department: Nursing Float Pool

Job :

Status: Part‑Time

Shift: Night (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Pay: $21.04 – $26.19 per hour

Pay Transparency: The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in New Jersey. The compensation offered to the selected candidate will depend on several factors, including educational background, skills, and professional experience.

Job Overview

Assist professional nursing personnel in providing patient care. Perform direct care duties, including bathing, feeding, dressing, and ambulating. Provide care to individuals with mental or emotional conditions or disabilities under the direction of nurses and physicians. Monitor patients' physical and emotional well‑being and report to medical staff.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma
  • BLS Certification through the American Heart Association only
  • Ability to perform all competencies of the position

Preferred:

  • Completion of a nursing fundamentals course at an accredited School of Nursing or Certified Nursing Assistant credential
Certifications and Licenses
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association
Scheduling Requirements
  • Nights 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Part‑Time (16 hours)
  • Mandatory orientation
Essential Functions
  • Monitor vital signs such as heart rate and blood pressure
  • Perform EKGs
  • Draw labs and collect specimens from patients
  • Provide therapeutic groups and recreational activities to patients
  • Assist in nonviolent crisis intervention
  • Promote patient and family‑centered care in conjunction with RNs
  • Observe and report patient responses to interventions/treatments
  • Prepare the patient environment for admission or transfer from another area of the hospital
  • Greet and escort newly admitted patients and families to the patient room and orient them to surroundings
  • Ensure all patients have appropriate identification bands at all times
  • Prepare patients for meals, assist in feeding, or feed patients and report food intake to RNs
