Position: Full-Time
Salary: $115,000 – $125,000 annually

Join Our Team as an Infection Preventionist / Nurse Educator

Adroit Care Rehabilitation & Nursing Center is seeking an experienced and dedicated Infection Preventionist / Nurse Educator (IP) to lead our infection prevention and control program while supporting staff education and professional development initiatives.

This key leadership position plays an essential role in ensuring compliance with CDC, CMS, and New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) regulations
, promoting resident safety, improving clinical outcomes, and fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.

Key Responsibilities
Infection Prevention & Control
  • Lead and oversee the facility’s infection prevention and control program.

  • Screen new admissions for infection risks and infectious diseases.

  • Collaborate with Admissions and Nursing teams to identify multi-drug resistant organisms (MDROs) and ensure proper resident placement and cohorting.

  • Review all new admissions within 72 hours to verify compliance with TB/PPD testing and vaccination requirements, including Influenza, Pneumonia, and COVID-19.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and tracking of resident immunizations.

  • Conduct daily reviews of:

    • Nursing 24-hour reports for infection trends.

    • Microbiology reports for significant pathogens and reportable diseases.

  • Identify and track healthcare-associated and community-acquired infections using established surveillance definitions.

  • Monitor device utilization, including Foley catheters and central lines.

  • Coordinate influenza vaccination programs, compliance tracking, and seasonal surveillance activities.

  • Oversee COVID-19 testing processes and documentation in accordance with CDC and CMS guidelines.

  • Educate residents and families regarding vaccinations and testing, document refusals, and complete follow-up education when appropriate.

  • Ensure compliance with NJDOH infectious disease reporting and surveillance requirements.

  • Conduct routine facility rounds to monitor infection control practices and regulatory compliance.

  • Oversee visitor screening processes and resident consent documentation.

  • Provide regular infection prevention reports and updates to the Administrator and Director of Nursing.

Staff Education & Development
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive staff education and training programs.

  • Coordinate employee orientation and onboarding programs.

  • Create and maintain educational materials, training manuals, competency tools, and instructional resources.

  • Schedule and facilitate refresher courses and ongoing clinical competency training.

  • Collaborate with department leaders to coordinate educational initiatives and guest speakers.

  • Support RNs, LPNs, and CNAs with continuing education and professional development requirements.

  • Assist with Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives related to staff education and clinical compliance.

  • Stay current with industry regulations, infection prevention standards, and best practices in healthcare education.

Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse (RN) preferred.

  • Infection Preventionist (IP) Certification preferred.

  • Strong experience providing healthcare staff training and education.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience in a hospital, nursing facility, or healthcare setting preferred.

  • At least six (6) months of experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing preferred.

  • Experience with Sigma Care preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of CDC, CMS, and NJDOH regulations.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
