Overview
Our Global Animal Health Research & Development (R&D) division leads the discovery, development, and registration of medicines for animals worldwide.
Purpose of the RoleThe Senior Scientist – Analytical Development supports the analytical development of high‑priority drug candidates and executes studies to characterize key physical and chemical properties of active pharmaceutical ingredients, excipients, and formulated drug products (e.g., tablets, solutions, implants).
Key Responsibilities- Work in a team environment on multiple concurrent projects and experiments of moderate complexity.
- Maintain high‑quality documentation, independently analyze and interpret data, and prepare technical reports and external publications as appropriate.
- Collaborate to develop, characterize, and apply new analytical methods to guide product development and secure successful commercialization of veterinary medicinal products.
- Use non‑routine approaches to solve challenging technical problems related to purity, stability, packaging, and manufacturing, including separation techniques (HPLC, GC, TLC), in‑vitro dissolution, general/wet chemical methods, physical characterizations (particle size analysis, SEM, light microscopy), spectroscopy (UV/Vis, FTIR), and thermal methods (DSC, TGA).
- Support project teams and collaborate with key partner groups to execute project and department goals efficiently.
- Develop and mentor junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Pharmacy, or a related scientific discipline.
Required Experience and Skills- Minimum 3 years of pharmaceutical experience with a master’s degree or a Ph.D. in a relevant scientific field.
- Strong technical skills and a demonstrated record of contributing to the development of pharmaceutical raw materials, actives, or drug products for animal or human health.
- High proficiency in analytical laboratory techniques.
- Ability to work under the general direction of a laboratory supervisor.
- Demonstrated drive for results and a history of achievements in pharmaceutical R&D.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience authoring technical documents.
- Ability to multitask, maintain attention to detail, and focus on customer needs while pursuing continuous improvement.
