Job Title
Scientist, Biologics Analytical Research & Development
LocationRahway, New Jersey
OverviewOur Research Scientists identify and target steps in disease mechanisms or pathways that can be inhibited or enhanced to isolate compounds effective against disease targets. In this laboratory‑based role you will solve complex analytical problems at the intersection of biology, chemistry, and laboratory informatics to enable the development of biologics drug substances and drug products.
Responsibilities- Develop, qualify, implement, troubleshoot, and transfer analytical methods for monoclonal proteins and other complex therapeutic proteins.
- Perform routine experiments and interpret data with appropriate guidance.
- Operate and troubleshoot analytical platforms including UPLC/HPLC, CE, PCR, ELISA, and gel electrophoresis.
- Coordinate with cross‑functional teams to meet project timelines and deliverables.
- Author and review internal technical reports and regulatory filings (e.g., IND, BLA).
- Publish scientific findings in external journals.
- BA/BS in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or related field with a minimum of 3 years industry experience, or M.S. with 0+ years relevant experience.
- Prior laboratory experience.
- Ability to apply basic scientific principles to execute laboratory work.
- Proficiency in analytical method development and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of separations science fundamentals.
- Experience with UPLC/HPLC analysis of biologics (e.g., SEC, RP, IEX) and CE techniques or molecular biology methods including PCR, DNA extraction, and immunoassay (ELISA, gel electrophoresis).
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Experience authoring and reviewing technical reports and regulatory submissions.
- Experience working within interdisciplinary project teams.
- Knowledge of protein structure and degradation pathways.
- Analytical experience with various biologic modalities (e.g., mAb, ADC, fusion protein).
- Background in analytical methodologies and sound understanding of CQA/QbD/DOE principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and research applications such as RLIMS, ELN, Empower.
- Data analytics, programming, or laboratory automation experience.
- Analytical Chemistry, Analytical Development, Biochemistry, Capillary Electrophoresis (CE), Chromatography, ELISA Techniques, Gel Electrophoresis, High‑Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Immunoassays, Laboratory Techniques, Oral Communications, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC), Technical Writing, Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC).
- Antibody Drug Conjugates (ADC), Biologics.
US and Puerto Rico residents only.
Shift: 1st – Day.
Travel: 10%.
