We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join our DSCS Digital Technologies (DDT) organization, within Development Sciences and Clinical Supply (DSCS), located in Rahway, NJ.

Within DSCS, the DDT team is building the next generation of data‑rich, connected lab environments—where hardware, software, and AI‑driven tools work together to accelerate pharmaceutical development. Our goal is to embed advanced digital capabilities into the DNA of how we work. We believe rapid, data‑rich experimentation is essential for improving process, product, and analytical understanding across our small‑molecule, biologics, and vaccine portfolio.
In this role, you will work with a team of scientists to identify, develop, and deploy digital and data‑rich technologies that enable chemistry, manufacturing, and controls (CMC) activities. You will leverage high‑throughput experimentation and lab automation to support drug product and/or drug substance development, generating datasets that accelerate research in vaccines and biologics.
Responsibilities- Design the lab of the future by developing high‑throughput technologies that integrate robotics, analytical instrumentation, and software into cohesive, high‑performing solutions.
- Deliver world‑renowned science by partnering with researchers to understand experimental needs and convert them into scalable digital workflows.
- Work at the intersection of multiple disciplines, collaborating with experts in automation, data science, modeling, IT, and the CMC community.
- Lead high‑impact projects from concept through deployment, coordinating across teams and stakeholders to deliver meaningful outcomes.
- Continuously improve existing digital technologies and automation platforms to enhance performance, usability, and reliability.
- Empower others by providing hands‑on partnership, support, troubleshooting, and training to scientists using these technologies.
- Ph.D. in Chemical/Biochemical/Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a closely‑related field (expected graduation by September 2026).
- M.S. in Chemical/Biochemical/Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a closely‑related field with at least 2 years of industrial or pharmaceutical experience.
- B.S. in Chemical/Biochemical/Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a closely‑related field with at least 4 years of industrial or pharmaceutical experience.
- Relevant experience in drug product and/or drug substance development supporting biologics and/or vaccines assets.
- Hands‑on experience using high‑throughput lab automation technologies to streamline formulation and/or bioprocess development.
- Hands‑on experience with biochemical and biophysical analytical technologies commonly used in drug product development.
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial skills aimed at delivering impactful novel technologies to key stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, creativity, and effective interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deliver complex solutions under compressed timelines in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to work in a team environment with cross‑functional interactions.
- Hands‑on experience with the development and implementation of high‑throughput lab automation technologies to streamline formulation and/or bioprocess development.
