Senior Scientist, DSCS Digital Technologies–Laboratory Automation, Benchtop automation and data

Responsibilities

• Design and develop advanced laboratory technologies that integrate robotics, analytical instrumentation, and software into cohesive, high‑performing solutions.
• Partner with researchers to understand experimental needs and convert them into scalable digital workflows.
• Collaborate with experts in automation, data science, modeling, IT, and the CMC community to advance scientific research.
• Lead high‑impact projects from concept through deployment, working across teams and stakeholders to deliver meaningful outcomes.
• Continuously improve existing digital technologies and automation platforms to enhance performance, usability, and reliability.
• Support and train scientists using these technologies, providing hands‑on partnership, troubleshooting, and training.

• Education:
  
  Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical), Physics, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Material Science, or a closely related field (or equivalent experience). M.S. with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or B.S. with at least 4 years of relevant experience.
• Experience:
  
  Highly motivated, technology‑centric scientist with background in data‑rich laboratory technologies including PAT, benchtop automation, analytical instrumentation and hardware integrations, and software enablement.
• Demonstrated scientific ability through publications and conference presentations.
• Excellent communication skills, creativity, and effective interpersonal skills.
• Ability to deliver complex solutions under compressed timelines and in a dynamic environment.
• Team‑player with cross‑functional collaboration experience.

• Analytical Instrumentation, Automation, Biochemistry, Biopharmaceuticals, Data Analysis, Laboratory Automation, Laboratory Techniques, Process Analytical Technology (PAT).

• Experience with a broad range of laboratory automation tools and technologies to integrate systems and hardware.
• Expertise in PAT, including designing and deploying integrated sensors and integrating analytical instrumentation physically and digitally.
• Track record of new technology research and deployment of digital and data‑rich methodologies.
• Evidence of cross‑functional collaboration in academic or industrial settings.
• Motivation to learn new skills and willingness to take on new challenges.
