Maintenance Mechanic – Rahway Valley Sewerage Authority

The RVSA is seeking a full‑time Maintenance Mechanic. This position is a union position covered by the RVSA Collective Bargaining Agreement and carries an hourly rate of $40.76.

• Receive and complete assignments throughout the day from the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Coordinator, or Chief Mechanic.
• Perform corrective maintenance on pumps, valves, piping, screening equipment, grit collection equipment, chlorination and UV equipment, digester gas collection and distribution systems, Belt Press units, sludge and chemical additive conveying equipment, stationary diesel engines, and stationary gas engines.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, including lubrication of equipment, changing oils and filters, and other routine tasks.

• Fluency in English.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Minimum of five years related experience or trade‑school training.
• Welding experience and EPA 608 HVAC certification preferred.
• A NJ Black Seal Low Pressure License preferred.
• Valid New Jersey driver’s license.
• Capability to train for forklift and backhoe operation.
• Must pass a maintenance exam and be available for emergencies.

• Hourly wage of $40.76.
