Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join our DSCS Digital Technologies (DDT) organization within Development Sciences and Clinical Supply (DSCS). The focus is on building the next generation of data‑rich, connected lab environments, enabling chemistry, manufacturing, and controls (CMC) activities across our small molecule, biologics, and vaccine portfolios.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Develop custom automation technologies to enable implementation of PAT
  • Deliver solutions for integrating analytical instrumentation and sensors
  • Build software capabilities across process and product hardware
  • Leverage robotics to automate pharmaceutical processes
  • Apply data science approaches to enable PAT realization
  • Invent innovative data‑rich, PAT‑focused approaches across modalities and scales
  • Collaborate with experts in automation, data science, modeling, IT, and the CMC community
  • Lead high‑impact projects from concept through deployment
  • Continuously improve existing digital technologies and automation platforms
  • Provide hands‑on partnership, support, troubleshooting, and training to scientists

  • Design the lab of the future by integrating robotics, analytical instrumentation, and software
  • Partner with researchers to convert experimental needs into scalable digital workflows
  • Work at the intersection of multiple disciplines
  • Lead projects across teams and stakeholders to deliver meaningful outcomes
  • Continuously improve performance, usability, and reliability of digital platforms
  • Empower scientists through training and support
Qualifications
  • A Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical), Physics, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Material Science, or a closely‑related field (expected graduation by end of 2026)
  • A M.S. in a related field with at least 2 years of relevant experience
  • A B.S. in a related field with at least 4 years of relevant experience
  • Strong background in data‑rich technologies: PAT, benchtop automation, analytical instrumentation, hardware integrations, and software enablement
  • Published scientific work and conference presentations
  • Excellent communication, creativity, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to deliver complex solutions under compressed timelines in a dynamic environment
  • Strong teamwork and cross‑functional collaboration skills
Preferred Experience
  • Broad laboratory automation experience and integration of systems and hardware
  • Expertise in designing and deploying integrated sensors and instrumentation for PAT
  • Track record of new technology research and deployment
  • Collaborative research recognized by the scientific community
  • Demonstrated cross‑functional collaboration in academic or industrial settings
  • Motivation to learn new skills and scientific curiosity
