Salary placement and work hours: this is a 9-month, full-time position. Placement will be on the d1 salary schedule with a range of $42,108-$94,363, dependent on education and applicable work experience. Placement is determined by the president and alabama community college system board policy and salary schedule guidelines. The work week is monday through friday, with evening and weekend work required at times, and hours worked will be a minimum of 35 per week.
An additional summer semester amount of $13,001 to $29,184 may be available, depending upon enrollment and the needs of the institution.

Essential functions:
the emergency medical services (ems) instructor must teach ems courses; advise students; sponsor student organizations as assigned; participate in college and departmental committee work; submit required reports on attendance and grades; and assist in registration and recruitment. This position is under direct supervision of the ems program director and must comply with all policies of the alabama community college system board of trustees, the alabama community college system, and northeast alabama community college.
Duties and responsibilities:
* teach assigned courses in accordance with course syllabi and schedule
* prepare course syllabi and objectives in conjunction with departmental guidelines
* participate in selection of texts and teaching materials
* serve as academic advisor for students as assigned, including utilizing advising software
* participate in all student registration periods and work closely with students to adjust schedules per the college drop/add process
* evaluate student written assignments and tests and compute grades according to departmental policy
* maintain standards with accrediting agencies
* represent the college on various committees and serve on institutional committees as assigned
* maintain appropriate work hours as outlined in state and college policies
* participate in the college's planning process
* assist in the development, evaluation, and revision of curricula to insure maximum student competency
* comply with all institutional directives to utilize software for the support of student services, teaching, professional development, etc.
* promote the ems program as directed by the program director, dean of healthcare programs, and/or president
* recruit students for the program and college at large
* adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the college
* maintain currency of professional knowledge and skills through professional development and continuing education
* agree to teach day, evening, and distance education classes
* have knowledge of and commitment to the philosophy and objectives of northeast alabama community college
* represent the college and its philosophy to prospective students and to others in the community
* comply with all policies of the alabama community college system board of trustees, the alabama community college system, and northeast alabama community college
* perform other duties as assigned by the program director, dean of healthcare programs, and/or the president
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
* knowledge of methods of instruction, testing, and evaluation of students
* knowledge of the current versions of the national ems scope of practice and national ems education standards as well as about evidenced-informed clinical practices
* effective oral and written communication skills
* knowledge and understanding of accreditation requirements
* ability to present instructional material in an understandable manner
* ability to deal with students from a variety of backgrounds
* knowledge of methods of instruction, testing, and evaluation of students
* competency in the use of current educational technologies
* knowledge of subject matter and latest advances in subject (s) taught
* understanding of the mission and goals of northeast alabama community college and the alabama community college system
* knowledge of established policies and procedures of the college
