Summarize in 2 to 4 sentences the primary function and value of the position. Under direct supervision, the Material Handler 1 operates forklifts or other mobile equipment to perform routine moving, staging, loading or unloading of materials, supplies or products within or near plant, yard, warehouse or work site.
PrimaryDuties & Responsibilities
In addition to complying with all safety, environmental, quality, and core policies, and contributing to the company’s Zero Harm and Zero Defects commitment, the following briefly describes the 3 to 6 primary activities (not all activities) that are regularly performed, and the approximate percentage of time annually devoted to each (equals 100%).
- Percent Transports raw materials, supplies, products and/or finished goods to and from storage or production lines and places them in designated area
80% - Actively participates in continuous improvement and corrective action activities
10% - Completes all necessary paperwork and transactions, including scanning requirements 5%
- Perform housekeeping,5‑S, and other duties as assigned 5%
- Safety/Hazard Reporting and Safety Observations
- Attendance
- Productivity – Timely completion of customer orders
- Quality / Claims – Ensure accuracy in all job functions to avoid Quality Claims
- On Time Delivery – Ensure accuracy in all job functions to meet On Time Delivery expectations
- Conversion Costs – Effective and efficient use of company resources to reduce operations costs
- Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as outlined in the role specific Job Safety Analysis
- Forklift, Combi‑lift, Side-loader, or other mobile equipment
- Computers
- Scanners, tablets, printers
- Oracle ERP
- Hand tools including, but not limited to, nail gun, banding equipment, hammer, saw, etc.
- Minimum:
High School diploma or equivalent, or attain ACT Work Keys Assessment at certified job profile skill level - Preferred: 3+ months of experience operating mobile equipment in a manufacturing or shipping environment Mobile equipment certification Skills & Competencies
- Basic computer skills
- Time Management – prioritizing work to meet internal and/or external customer demands
- Detail Oriented – ensures accuracy of product and documentation to meet internal and/or external customer demands
- Good communication skills
- Mobile equipment operations skills
