Construction Partners Inc., a publicly traded highway infrastructure company is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and external audit activities. This role is well suited for a hands-on accounting professional with strong technical fundamentals who enjoys owning work, meeting deadlines, and collaborating across teams.
The Senior Accountant will report to the Chief Accounting Officer and will serve as an individual contributor, supporting public-company reporting requirements and technical accounting matters.
Key Responsibilities- Participate in the monthly close process, including preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Assist with quarterly and annual financial reporting, including support for public-company reporting and required disclosures.
- Support external audit activities by preparing audit schedules, responding to auditor requests, and assisting with audit walkthroughs and testing.
- Perform accounting research and assist in documenting conclusions for technical or non-routine transactions in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures.
- Support internal control activities, including documentation and testing related to SOX 404 compliance.
- Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and other departments to support accounting and reporting needs.
- Contribute to process improvements related to close, reporting, and controls.
- Assist with ad hoc accounting and finance projects as needed.
- Active CPA license required.
- 3–5 years of accounting experience, including prior public accounting experience (Big 4 or large regional firm experience preferred).
- Experience supporting external audits for public or large private companies.
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal control concepts.
- Experience in construction, civil engineering, manufacturing, or asset-intensive industries is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems and reporting tools preferred.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team environment.
This is an in-person, in-office position.
