Senior Accountant

We are seeking a hands‑on Senior Accountant to support the accounting operations of a 5‑store retail jewelry chain. This role is responsible for day‑to‑day accounting execution, preparation of financial statements, inventory accounting, and month‑end close. The position also provides day‑to‑day guidance and review support within the accounting team. The ideal candidate is detail‑driven, practical, and comfortable working directly in the ledger.

• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
• Perform monthly account reconciliations and resolve variances
• Support and help drive monthend and yearend close
• Prepare monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
• Perform inventory accounting, including purchases, transfers, markdowns, shrink, and writeoffs
• Reconcile inventory records to the general ledger
• Support physical inventory counts and investigate discrepancies
• Reconcile daily sales, returns, gift cards, customer deposits, and tradeins
• Reconcile POS activity to bank deposits and the general ledger
• Partner with store operations to resolve accounting issues
• Maintain fixed asset and lease schedules
• Support audits, tax filings, and sales tax reporting
• Assist with internal controls and accounting documentation
• Review work prepared by other accounting staff and provide guidance
• Help reinforce consistent procedures and close discipline

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of hands‑on accounting experience
• Strong GAAP and monthend close experience
• Retail or product‑based inventory accounting experience
• Strong Excel skills

• Multilocation retail experience
• Experience reviewing the work of others
• CPA or CPA‑eligible
• Experience with POS systems or lease accounting (ASC 842)
