About the Opportunity

Our client is a growing, relationship-driven public accounting firm in the Raleigh/Wake Forest area seeking a Senior Staff Tax Accountant / Senior Tax Associate to join their team.
RoleAs a Senior Staff Tax Accountant, you will play an important role in supporting the firm’s tax practice and client relationships. You’ll prepare and review tax returns, assist with planning opportunities, communicate with clients, and collaborate closely with managers and firm leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and review individual, business, partnership, S-corporation, and other tax returns with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Communicate with clients to gather information, answer questions, and deliver a professional client experience.
- Support tax planning projects by identifying potential tax savings, planning opportunities, and areas for further review by firm leadership.
- Assist with client advisory work related to tax strategy, cash flow, entity structure, and small business financial decisions.
- Research tax issues and apply findings to client situations while ensuring compliance with current tax laws and regulations.
- Contribute to efficient tax processes, documentation, and workflow improvements as the firm continues to grow.
- Work closely with managers, partners, and other team members to ensure deadlines are met and client work is completed at a high standard.
- Required – CPA license.
- Required – 4+ years of tax experience in public accounting.
- Preferred – Strong experience preparing individual and business tax returns.
- Strong ability to review tax work with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Client-focused, proactive, relationship-oriented mindset.
- High integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage deadlines during busy seasons.
- Experience with small and mid-sized business clients.
- Experience with CCH Pro System fx, CCH Axcess, Thomson Reuters, Sure Prep, Safe Send, or similar tax/workflow software.
- Interest in advisory work, tax planning, and client strategy.
- Curiosity around technology, automation, AI, and process improvement.
- Desire to grow into a future Tax Manager or leadership role.
