We are recruiting a Cost Accounting Manager for a growing manufacturing organization in the Raleigh area. In this role, you will lead cost accounting, inventory accounting, and operational finance activities. This role will partner closely with manufacturing and finance leadership to provide accurate product costing, inventory valuation, margin analysis, and financial insights that support operational performance and strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities- Lead all aspects of cost accounting, including product costing, inventory valuation, standard costing, and manufacturing variance analysis.
- Analyze material, labor, and overhead costs to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for operational improvement.
- Develop and maintain cost accounting methodologies, reporting tools, and financial models that support business decision-making.
- Partner with manufacturing and operations leadership to improve cost visibility, operational efficiency, and profitability.
- Monitor inventory accuracy through cycle counts, reconciliations, and ongoing review of inventory-related controls and processes.
- Review and analyze inventory reserves, excess and obsolete inventory, and other key inventory-related accounting estimates.
- Support monthly close activities, including inventory accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting requirements.
- Lead, mentor, and develop cost accounting staff while fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
- Support internal and external audit activities, process improvement initiatives, system enhancements, and other special projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with 7+ years of progressive cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of standard costing, inventory accounting, variance analysis, and manufacturing finance concepts.
- Experience leading or developing accounting professionals and partnering cross-functionally with manufacturing and operations teams.
Determining compensation for this role depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. The salary range for the role is noted in this job posting. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company’s 401(k) retirement plan.
