Job Title

Accounting Clerk II (S) – Position  – NC03

Overview

Para‑professional level accounting work in an agency or institution. Responsible for providing accurate accounts payable and disbursement processing services for General Accounting invoices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process invoices for payment using the North Carolina Financial System (NCFS) and Share Point.
  • Monitor Purchase Orders for available funds and POs needing to be closed.
  • Work closely with co‑workers and vendors to resolve invoice issues.
  • Collaborate with the DOA Fiscal department on payment issues.
  • Provide phone and desk coverage for the front‑desk lobby area once a week or as necessary.
  • Provide back‑up coverage for Work Control as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of office procedures, methods, and practices.
  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills; strong grammar and vocabulary.
  • Familiarity with accounting procedures, mathematics, and their application.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Valid NC Driver’s License; out‑of‑state applicants must obtain NC driver’s license within 60 days.
Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation

Salary range: $31,200 – $43,193.
