Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a service organization in Raleigh, North Carolina. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is well suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume payables setting and takes pride in accuracy, responsiveness, and dependable follow-through. The ideal candidate brings strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the flexibility to assist with related accounting and administrative support as business needs evolve.

Responsibilities:

  • Process a large volume of vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner while maintaining organized records and supporting documentation.
  • Review invoice details, assign appropriate account codes, and verify approvals before entering transactions into the accounting system.
  • Manage payment activity through ACH transactions and check runs, ensuring deadlines are met and disbursements are completed correctly.
  • Investigate and resolve vendor questions, payment discrepancies, and outstanding issues through consistent follow-up and clear communication.
  • Partner with internal teams to confirm invoice accuracy, address exceptions, and support smooth month-to-month payable operations.
  • Provide backup assistance for accounts receivable tasks and contribute to general accounting or administrative duties when needed.
  • Maintain compliance with company procedures and help improve efficiency within daily accounts payable workflows.
  • Support team initiatives and adapt to changing priorities while contributing positively to the overall work environment.
