Senior Corporate Accountant – Raleigh NCOur client is an established and well-respected construction company, seeking a Senior Accountant to join the finance and accounting team, serving as the right hand to the CFO. We are seeking someone with solid construction accounting experience and a background that includes some project costing and inventory accounting (fleet, equipment, etc.).
Responsibilities- Prepare and review financial statements, schedules, and account analyses for accuracy
- Reconcile accounts, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues promptly
- Support month-end and year-end close, including journal entries and variance analysis
- Partner with the CFO to review financial results, including P&L trends and cost drivers
- Assist with job cost accounting by tracking and analyzing project costs
- Analyze large data sets to uncover issues and opportunities for improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements and strengthen controls
- Support audit preparation and compliance activities
- Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of construction or project-based accounting experience
- Job costing experience, understanding of project financials, including strong reconciliation skills
- Software: MS Excel proficiency, with experience utilizing ERP systems
- Self-starter with an analytical mindset who takes initiative to dig into the why behind the numbers
