Role DescriptionWe are seeking a full-time, in-office Tax Associate to join our growing tax department. This is not a remote or virtual position. As a Tax Associate, you will work closely with tax seniors, managers, and partners to prepare a variety of federal and state income tax returns for individuals, businesses, trusts, estates, and not-for-profit organizations. You will collect and organize client information, prepare supporting work papers, and assist clients with tax compliance matters while delivering exceptional client service.
Our ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in accounting, at least one season of public accounting tax experience, and experience preparing a variety of income tax returns. A CPA license is preferred but not required, and experience with not-for-profit organizations is a plus.
Qualifications- Public accounting tax experience is preferred
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
- CPA license preferred, but not required (or actively pursuing certification)
- Minimum of one season of experience preparing income tax returns
- Experience preparing individual, corporate, partnership, trust, estate, and not-for-profit tax returns
- Familiarity with IRS regulations and tax compliance
- Familiarity with not-for-profit tax preparation is preferred
- Experience with CCH Axcess Tax software is preferred
- Experience with CCH Engagement software is preferred
- Experience with Quick Books accounting software is preferred
- Strong communication and people skills
- Analytical problem‑solving abilities
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
In this role, you will:
- Collect and organize client tax documentation
- Prepare federal and state individual, corporate, partnership, trust, estate, and not-for-profit income tax returns
- Prepare supporting work papers, schedules, and tax return documentation
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations
- Respond to client questions and assist with IRS and state tax notices
- Assist with tax notices, examinations, and audits as needed
- Work closely with tax seniors, managers, partners, and audit staff
- Participate in client meetings and collaborate with team members to deliver exceptional client service
