Payroll Specialist Project Responsibilities:
- Process weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll for employees
- Review and verify employee time records, attendance, overtime, and leave balances
- Calculate wages, deductions, bonuses, commissions, and other payroll adjustments
- Ensure accurate processing of tax with holdings, garnishments, benefits, and retirement contributions
- Maintain payroll records and employee information in payroll systems
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports for management and accounting purposes
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, taxes, and benefits
- Reconcile payroll accounts and assist with month-end and year-end closing activities
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
- Support payroll audits and provide required documentation
- Process new hires, terminations, and employee status changes affecting payroll
- Coordinate with HR and Finance departments to ensure payroll accuracy
Position Requirements Include:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred
- 2+ years of payroll processing experience
- Knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and wage-and-hour requirements
- Experience with payroll software and HRIS systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information
