Position Overview
The Analyst supports general functions of the property tax practice, including property tax assessment notice and tax bill processing, mail handling, and scanning. The Analyst performs independent research and analytical reviews and maintains software databases to ensure database and report integrity. The role is responsible for creating a positive team member experience, delivering excellent client service, and driving revenue and profit for the firm.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to client inquiries and requests from tax authorities.
- Interact with taxing jurisdictions to verify assessment, tax bill, and deadline information, and monitor compliance and filing requirements.
- Receive, identify, and sort all incoming mail daily; batch tax documents for scanning into the scan manager for transmission to external resources.
- Process tax bills and assessments in a timely manner, ensuring sufficient time for client processing.
- Coordinate outgoing mail processes, including preparation of certified and return receipts, proper postage metering, and logging proof of mailers; deliver mail to post office or courier service.
- Scan and archive proof of mailers in the property tax system of record.
- Assemble tax return packages when necessary.
- Assist in preparation for board hearings by copying, collating, and binding documentation for presentation to the review board.
- Research asset ownership structures, title policy reviews, jurisdictional tax policies, property re‑parceling, and tenant escalation billing issues as requested.
- Build knowledge of property tax jurisdictions nationwide, tracking tax bill deadlines, appeal deadlines, and statutory deadlines.
- Coordinate processes with jurisdictional data requests to meet statutory deadline requirements for assessment notices, compliance returns, tax bills, and agency authorizations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High‑school diploma or GED required.
- General knowledge and ability to understand a tax calendar desired.
- Desire to perform in a high‑energy team environment.
- Demonstrated leadership, problem‑solving, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments, and handle ambiguity.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet navigation and research.
- Experience with Salesforce preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Standard indoor working environment.
