Overview

Our client, with over 100 years in the building construction industry, is seeking a Project Accountant to support their field operations throughout the Carolinas. Along with day-to-day partnership with project management, subcontractors, and project owners you will be overseeing project accounting and forecasting on large scale ground up builds and renovations.

Responsibilities
  • Manage project contracts, amendments, insurance requirements, bonds, schedules of values (SOV), project files, and change order documentation to ensure compliance and accurate project administration.
  • Conduct timely and accurate reviews of subcontractor and vendor requisitions, lien waivers, and supporting documentation.
  • Establish and maintain project financial forecasts aligned with internal reporting requirements and client expectations.
  • Lead monthly project forecast reviews, maintaining accurate estimates-to-complete (ETC) projections for labor, expenses, and overall project performance.
  • Monitor and support timely management of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and overall project cash flow.
  • Oversee the project financial closeout process, ensuring all documentation, reconciliations, and contractual obligations are completed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor s degree in related field with 5+ years of project accounting experience directly with a GC, subcontractor, or trades partner within the building construction industry OR combined education and relevant experience.
  • Preferred:
    Bachelor s degree in finance or accounting with direct experience as a project accountant for a mid to large size general contractor.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of contract abstracts, summaries, and key project financial information.
  • Support internal and external audit processes by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and ensuring compliance with company procedures.
