Automotive Controller

After a recent acquisition, they nearly doubled its U.S. retail footprint and added approximately 1,900 employees and more than 25 dealerships across the Raleigh and surrounding markets.

• Responsible for the general ledger, including reconciliation, recognition of issues, investigation and reporting to executive leadership
• Prepare annual, quarterly and monthly budget preparation and reporting
• Oversee the general accounting office and the immediate supervision of office employees
• Develop, prepare, consolidate, and interpret accurate accounting and financial statements
• Ensure accurate reporting and conformance to Company policies
• General understanding and knowledge of state and federal regulations as it relates to the business
• Supervise, develop and strengthen areas of accounting (accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable)
• Collaborate with departments operationally and for accounting purposes
• Recruiting and development of staff
• Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, statutes and regulations
• Monthly and Year-end closings
• Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned

• Dealership Accounting
  - Full oversight of dealership accounting operations.
• Team Leadership
  - Manage title clerks, assistant controllers, and administrative staff. Team size is typically 3 to 5.
• Hands-On Work
  - Role is currently hands on due to change management. Long term goal is more strategic oversight.
• Multi Site Travel
  - Required to travel between multiple dealership locations within the Raleigh market.
• Operational Support
  - Support dealership operations across brands including Toyota, Porsche, and Mercedes.

• Total Compensation - 140,000 to 160,000 dollars OTE
• 80 base/20 bonus split

• Controller Experience
  - Must have true controller experience. Manager level only is not sufficient.
• Years of Experience
  - Ideal range is 3 to 5 years. Job description lists 5 to 7 years but team is flexible.
• Industry Background
  - Automotive preferred. Retail or corporate controller experience acceptable. Small business experience acceptable if skills align. Open to industry.
• Education
  - Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
• Onsite Requirement
  - Must work onsite at Raleigh dealerships five days per week.
