We are recruiting a Director of Finance for a well‑established Organization in the RTP area. In this role, you will lead the accounting and financial operations to include the oversight of financial reporting, budgeting, investments, audit coordination, cash management, and compliance while serving as a key financial advisor to executive leadership. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys both strategic leadership and hands‑on involvement in the day‑to‑day finance function.
Responsibilities- Lead all accounting and finance operations, including month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close.
- Oversee the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and executive reports to support organizational decision‑making.
- Develop and manage the annual operating budget while monitoring financial performance throughout the year.
- Present financial results, forecasts, and key performance metrics to executive leadership and the Board.
- Oversee investment reporting and monitor organizational assets in partnership with external advisors.
- Lead the annual audit process, coordinating with external auditors and preparing supporting schedules and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, internal controls, donor restrictions, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Partner with operational leadership to improve financial processes, reporting accuracy, and organizational efficiency.
- Supervise and mentor a small accounting team while fostering professional development and accountability.
- Serve as the primary administrator for the organization’s financial systems, identifying opportunities to improve reporting and streamline workflows.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA highly preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership responsibilities within a nonprofit organization or related environment is required.
- Experience presenting financial information to executive leadership or governing boards.
- Experience with restricted funds, grant accounting, investment reporting, and related accounting.
Salary will be determined based on a wide array of factors, including skill sets, experience, training, licensure, location, and business needs. Vaco by Highspring discloses a salary range for this role. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company’s 401(k) retirement plan.
