What You'll Be Doing
Join our team as a Senior Accounting Technician and help ensure accurate, efficient financial operations! The Department Fiscal Operations Section is a vital hub of financial activity, made up of three key units:
Disbursements, Billing and Receivables and Grants. As a Senior Accounting Technician, you’ll be at the heart of our fiscal engine, processing detailed accounts payable transactions based on fiscal policies and procedures with precision and efficiency. Your day-to-day will include managing trust client accounts, reviewing and processing invoices, requisitions, purchase receiving reports, preparing deposits and contract encumbrances all in alignment with established fiscal policies and procedures.
You’ll collaborate closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including County supervisors, front-line staff, internal team members and external merchant vendors. This role offers a dynamic environment where attention to detail, communication and adaptability are key. Additional responsibilities may be assigned, offering opportunities to grow and contribute across the department.
- Review and process invoices, requisitions, receiving reports, and contract encumbrance payments
- Manage trust client accounts and prepare and post payments using an automated financial system
- Manage vouchers and process payment requests related to trust clients' essential needs
- Research and resolve accounts payable discrepancies
- Prepare fiscal reports and reconcile multiple trust accounts
- Process fiscal year-end transactions and provide technical assistance and fiscal training
- Other duties include cross training and special projects

The Basics (RequiredEducation and Experience )
- High school diploma or GED
- Three years of job-related experience
- Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Education and Experience )
- Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field
- At least four (4) years of accounts payable experience in County or State Government
- Three (3) or more years of accounts payable experience managing Social Security Organizational Representative Payee accounts or other multiple fiscal accounts
- Experience and proficiency working knowledge of financial data entry programs/software
- Knowledge of best practices and generally accepted accounting principles
- Solid multitasking skills delivering accurate, deadline driven results in a fast paced environment
- Sharp problem solving skills with the ability to identify issues, analyze data, determine solutions and deliver timely resolutions
- Adaptable to change and able to take on additional duties, including project assignments
- Analytical thinking, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities and solid organizational skills
- Team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills and a solid record of delivering customer service excellence
