Accountant, Tax Accountant, Public Accounting

Murray Moyer is seeking a driven, detail-oriented Accountant to join our growing tax preparation team. This role is ideal for a CPA or EA who enjoys working directly with clients, solving complex tax issues, and being part of a collaborative professional services firm.

In this position, you’ll help prepare personal and business tax returns, support tax planning and strategy, and serve as a trusted advisor to clients navigating important financial and tax matters. You’ll work closely with our tax professionals, attorneys, and internal team members to deliver timely, accurate, and high-quality service.

We’re looking for someone who is technically strong, client-focused, deadline-oriented, and comfortable using modern tax, accounting, and productivity tools — including emerging AI technologies — to improve efficiency and service delivery.

• Prepare individual and business tax returns, including current and prior-year filings
• Communicate with clients and internal team members in a timely, professional manner
• Deliver tax services in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and deadlines
• Build strong client relationships through planning, consulting, and responsive service
• Identify and help mitigate tax risks and compliance issues
• Participate in tax planning and strategy meetings with clients
• Use the firm’s software platforms and technology tools to support efficient workflow
• Contribute to a collaborative, service-focused team environment

• Current CPA or EA license
• Minimum of 2 years of tax preparation experience
• Strong knowledge of tax accounting, tax compliance, and individual/business returns
• Familiarity with tax software and Microsoft Office
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills and a client-service mindset
• Ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field

Murray Moyer is a North Carolina-based tax resolution, tax preparation, and bookkeeping firm serving individuals and businesses. Our CPAs work alongside tax attorneys to provide thoughtful, practical guidance for clients facing a wide range of tax and financial matters.

Many of our positions follow a hybrid schedule, with team members working on-site 2-3 days per week and remotely on the remaining days. This approach supports collaboration, flexibility, and exceptional client service.
