Accounting Manager I (NS)
This position serves as a professional accountant in the Controller's Office. This position oversees all accounts payable activities for the entire agency. This position monitors and maintains an adequate cash flow for agency financial operations in the amount of approximately $700 million dollars per year. The position supervises the operations section within the Controller's Office, with two direct reports, and nine indirect reports (professional accountants, accounting specialists, and accounting technicians).
The primary purpose of the Department of Public Safety Controller's Office is to ensure that all financial resources and funds are received, dispersed, recorded, and accounted for in accordance with all applicable State and Federal laws and regulations, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Department policy and procedures. The Controller's Office at the agency level has oversight responsibility of this department and is accountable to the Office of the State Controller for the integrity of that data.
Salary Range: $63,927.00 - $
This is a full-time permanent position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. The work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm. We value our employees and are committed to providing flexibility in work schedules. This position qualifies for teleworking on a part-time basis as part of the State Telework Program.

- Experience with Accounts Payable, Cash Management, and/or Accounts Receivable processes.
- Knowledge of the policies and procedures required by the Office of State Controller and State Budget Manual.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) relating to auditing, budgeting, and/ or financial management.
- Experience using the North Carolina Financial System (NCFS) and/or other electronic accounting system(s).
