Accounting Specialist

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support a government organization in Raleigh, North Carolina through a Contract to Permanent opportunity. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys managing day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and working across both payables and receivables in a hybrid environment. The role offers the chance to contribute to a stable team while supporting essential financial processes with attention to detail and sound judgment.

Responsibilities:

- Process vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and payment activity with accuracy and timeliness.

- Manage customer billing and incoming payments while helping maintain current and well-documented receivable balances.

- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure reliable financial reporting.

- Perform routine accounting support across daily transactions, month-end activities, and record maintenance.

- Use Sage Intacct and  to enter, track, and verify financial data and payment workflows.

- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve invoice, billing, and account issues efficiently.

- Maintain organized financial documentation and ensure accounting records align with internal policies and audit needs.

- Assist with knowledge transfer and continuity of accounting operations as responsibilities shift within the finance team.

Requirements - 2-5 years of experience in accounting support, including hands-on work with accounts payable and accounts receivable.

- Demonstrated ability to handle billing, reconciliations, and general accounting transactions with a high level of accuracy.

- Experience using Sage Intacct, , or closely related accounting and payment platforms.

- Strong understanding of core accounting practices and financial recordkeeping.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a hybrid work environment.

- Strong communication skills and a detail-oriented approach to working with cross-functional teams.

- High attention to detail, sound problem-solving ability, and commitment to confidentiality.
