Staff Accountant – Enrolled Agent (EA)

Location:

Raleigh, NC – North Hills Area

Pay: $27-$31/hour, based on experience

Schedule:

25–35 hours per week | Flexible Schedule

Work Arrangement:
Hybrid after successful completion of onsite training

We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant who is a licensed Enrolled Agent (EA) or is actively pursuing EA licensure with expected completion within the next six months. CPA-licensed candidates will also be considered.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working directly with small business clients and wants the flexibility and personal environment of a smaller accounting practice.

Responsibilities:

• Manage accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of small business clients
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements
• Perform bookkeeping, reconciliations and journal entries
• Work extensively in Quick Books Online and/or Quick Books Desktop
• Consult with clients regarding financial performance and tax planning
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual compliance filings
• Assist with payroll, sales/use tax, W-2s, 1099s and property tax filings
• Assist with tax preparation and tax notice resolution
• Support preparation of corporate tax returns
• Review bookkeeping/accounting work and assist other team members as needed
• Maintain fixed assets and accurate client records
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency

Qualifications:

• Enrolled Agent (EA) license strongly preferred
• Candidates actively pursuing their EA with expected completion within six months will be considered
• 3+ years of accounting, bookkeeping and compliance reporting experience
• 3+ years of Quick Books Online and/or Quick Books Desktop
• 3+ years of tax accounting experience
• Strong understanding of financial statements, reconciliations and general accounting
• Experience working directly with small business clients strongly preferred
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; accounting concentration preferred but not required
• Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable learning and utilizing accounting technology
