The Martin Marietta Summer Corporate Accounting Internship provides students with meaningful, hands‑on experience supporting the Company's corporate accounting and financial reporting functions. This approximately 10-week program offers the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world business activities while developing accounting, analytical, financial reporting, process improvement, and professional skills.

Working alongside experienced accounting and finance professionals and reporting to members of the Corporate Accounting team, Corporate Accounting Interns gain exposure to a variety of key accounting and financial reporting functions, including financial reporting, fixed assets accounting, account reconciliations, internal controls, and regulatory compliance. Interns contribute to projects and processes that support accurate financial reporting, strengthen business processes, and provide information that supports sound decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow and promote Martin Marietta's safety, ethical, and compliance standards in all work activities.
  • Assist with fixed asset accounting activities, including capital project setup and capital expenditure tracking.
  • Support the preparation of financial schedules and supporting documentation used in quarterly and annual reporting processes, including SEC filings.
  • Prepare account reconciliations and assist in ensuring timely review, accuracy, and resolution of reconciling items.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end close activities and financial reporting processes.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests by gathering documentation, preparing schedules, and responding to information requests.
  • Participate in data analysis activities to identify trends, improve reporting effectiveness, and support business objectives.
  • Assist with automation initiatives and process improvement projects designed to increase efficiency and strengthen controls.
  • Gain experience utilizing financial systems and data extraction tools to support accounting and reporting activities.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting, Internal Audit, FPandamp;

    A, and operational finance teams.
  • Develop reports, presentations, and analyses that support management decision-making and financial transparency.
  • Perform all responsibilities in accordance with the Company's Mission, Vision, Values, policies, procedures, and Code of Ethical Business Conduct.
Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 preferred.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with divisional and corporate stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Growth mindset with a strong desire to learn and develop professionally.
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems, technologies, and business processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Experience working with financial or business data is preferred.
