Horizon Forest Products is the distributor of Impressions Flooring Collection and offers customers over 75 years of industry experience and one of the most comprehensive inventories of pre-finished and unfinished hardwood flooring, floor equipment, abrasives, finishes, fasteners, and accessories in the mid-Atlantic and Texas region.

We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and experienced Accountant to join our accounting team. This position will play an important role in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial information and accounting activities. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, advanced Excel capabilities, and the ability to collaborate effective across departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage daily cash activities and perform accurate bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare and post general ledger journal entries.
  • Perform general ledger and balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Complete general ledger reconciliations using Black Line.
  • Administer Concur and manage employee expense reporting.
  • Review and audit expense reports for accuracy, appropriate documentation, and compliance with company policies.
  • Support accounts payable activities, including verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions.
  • Provide sales tax and accounts receivable support.
  • Review and audit financial documents, accounting records, and procedures.
  • Assist with internal and external audits and research and resolve discrepancies.
  • Compile, analyze, and report financial information to support management decision-making.
  • Identify accounting discrepancies and assist with timely resolution.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.

Requirements:

  • Experience with Great Plains, Blackline or Avalara is a plus
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask at an extraordinarily high level
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Self- motivated with a strong sense of ownership
  • Able to pass a background check and drug test
