Join Us as a Finance Program Assistant!
Are you detailed-oriented, organized and dependable? Wake County is seeking a Finance Program Assistant to support daily financial operations that help our programs serve youth and families effectively.
This position plays a key operational role in ensuring invoices, purchasing, deposits and reporting are processed accurately and on time. It also includes providing general office coverage and administrative support as part of the Administrative Support Team.

Essential Functions:
* Processes invoices and reimbursement requests accurately and timely
* Maintains purchasing trackers and monitors expenditures.
* Prepares requisitions, purchases orders, and receives purchases
* Completes bank deposits and assists with reconciliations
* Assists with monthly, quarterly, and fiscal reporting requirements
* Maintains organized financial records and documentation
* Provides day-to-day financial administrative operational support
* Assists with general office coverage, including reception, filing, and team support as needed
* Collaborates with the Administrative Support Team to ensure smooth office operations.

Cooperative Extension - Wake County Center is a collaborative partnership among county, state, and federal governments committed to ensuring all citizens have access to the wealth of knowledge generated by local governance and academic institutions. Our staff successfully integrates government resources, grant funding, donations, etc. to create programs that address community needs. We are seeking a Program Assistant who can navigate the accounting requirements of our diverse stakeholders.
This role is crucial for maintaining compliance while also providing valuable "day-to-day" insights to help us plan for future needs and opportunities.
The Basics (Required
Education and Experience )
* Associate's degree
* One year of job-related experience
* Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred
Education and Experience )
* At least two (2) years of experience working at a departmental or central level.
* Experience providing support for county, state, and/or grant-funded programs.
* Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
* At least two (2) years of experience reconciling accounts, including bank accounts.
* Advanced proficiency in preparing documents and tracking data using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
* Experience managing projects, delivering presentations, and facilitating meetings, workshops, or work sessions.
* Completion of an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
* Two (2) or more years of experience in data analysis, tracking, and reporting.
* Valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
How Will We Know You're 'The One'?
* Experience providing accounting support to diverse programs.
* Experience reconciling accounts, including pre- and post-audit processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
* Proficiency in preparing documents using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
* Experience developing and maintaining reporting tools to track payments, collections, accounts payable and receivable, purchases, and related financial activities.
* Experience reconciling payments and deposits from multiple sources across various accounts, including researching and resolving discrepancies.
* Experience compiling financial transaction data from county, state, and grant management systems.
* Capacity to work effectively in a diverse environment and collaborate with individuals across disciplines and varying levels of fiscal systems knowledge.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
