Responsibilities

The County Administrative Assistant is a member of the staff of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension (NCCE). The County Administrative Assistant’s primary responsibility is to provide support to the County Extension Director and other staff as assigned.

Responsibilities include providing administrative support for the County Extension Director and other staff/program areas including Agriculture, Local Foods, 4-H, and Family and Consumer Science. The County Administrative Assistant will work with the County Extension Director to develop and effectively manage the county budget and maintain monthly expense records. The position interacts with other county departments such as Human Resources, Finance, Budget, Infrastructure & Asset Management, etc.,

to ensure effective relationships with county government and partner organizations working with Extension staff.

The County Administrative Assistant also provides customer service to call-in and walk-in clientele, assists in developing and maintaining county budgets, maintains grant fund budgets, manages certain Extension reports, communicates with Extension administration, updates the website, and creates the monthly Extension newsletter.

Requirements and Preferences

Minimum Experience/

Education:

Graduation from high school and two years of related experience; or graduation from a two-year secretarial science or business administration program and one year related experience.

Department

Required Skills:

An extensive knowledge of computer applications is required including fluency in Google Suite and Microsoft Suite, multiple devices, and a willingness to learn new relevant software programs. Must be highly motivated, have strong organizational skills, be able to multi-task, possess strong written and oral communication skills, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate effective time management.

Preferred: A general understanding of the county government budget process and experience with financial systems software.

Required License or Certification: Valid Driver’s License and reliable personal transportation. Valid North Carolina driver’s license is required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained. Valid NC Driver's License required. Commercial Driver's License not required. Physical required:
No.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday Business Hours 8:00 am to 5:00pm. Evenings and weekends as required. This is an in-person position. Remote or hybrid work is not available.
