Description of Work This position is located at Piedmont Correctional Institution in Salisbury, NC (Rowan County). Piedmont Correctional Institution is a medium custody male facility.
Reporting to the Administrative Officer III, this position has the responsibility of processing, reviewing and distributing all outgoing and incoming mail, packages, legal mail, certified mail, and courier mail at the facility.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Maintaining security of the facility by searching and reviewing all incoming mail and when applicable, all outgoing mail for unauthorized items, contraband, and correspondence deemed a threat to the safe, secure, and orderly function of the institution.
Sorting and distributing large quantities of inter-office staff correspondence and mail. Processing indigent offender mail and dispositioning unauthorized property.
Handling all mail and parcels, while following Prisons’ policies and operating procedures.
Performing at a high degree of confidentiality, honesty, and trustworthiness at all times.
Utilizing electronic postage scales for weighing packages and other parcels, operating a fax/copy machine daily, operating a personal computer, and utilizing OPUS and Microsoft Outlook.
Utilizing Text Behind software to screen incoming offender mail and print for dissemination.

/Management Preferences Salary Range: $31,200-$51,249 Salary Grade: NC02
Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required.
Documented knowledge/experience in Microsoft Outlook and Word Documented knowledge/experience with clerical/secretarial duties
The Posting Will Close At 11:59 P.M. The Night Before the End Date .This is a full-time position (40 hours per week)
