DescriptionThe essential function of this position is to perform duties as a record control clerk for the various units within Social Services. Other duties involve processing and maintaining the agency’s filing system, initiating and closing files, setting up files, locating existing files; processing mail and answering telephone calls. This position also serves as the back-up position for the main receptionist. This position requires periodic walking, standing, and bending to file documents.
It also requires the ability to lift up to 10lbs, knowledge of basic computer functions and applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel, great organizational skills, and the ability to multitask.
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least two years of office assistant/secretarial experience. Prefer applicants with the ability to type with speed and accuracy, have knowledge of business grammar and vocabulary, spelling, punctuation and be capable of independently completing work.
Note: In accordance with State mandates and the Halifax County Emergency Operations Plan, Halifax County Social Services staff are required to staff emergency shelters during times of disaster. Please be advised that every staff person is eligible to be assigned to an emergency shelter or Emergency Operations Center.
CompensationThe hiring range for this position is $32,017 - $35,807. Halifax County provides a comprehensive employee benefits package, including membership in the N.C. Local Government Employees’ Retirement System.
