Job Overview

The COSS Support Specialist supports North Carolina Cooperative Extension in Gastonia, NC, providing office, marketing, and administrative assistance to extension staff and volunteers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide office support for extension staff, including greeting visitors, answering phones, and taking messages.
  • Assist with marketing and media creation, including social media posts and newsletter design.
  • Handle financial transactions, write receipts, and process fees per county procedures.
  • Support volunteer programs and special events.
  • Cover administrative tasks for other staff as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma with at least two years of office assistance or secretarial experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in web-page management, social media publishing, and newsletter design.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and customer service skills.
Working Conditions

Full‑time, in‑person position. Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional evenings and weekends as required.

Compensation

Starting at $32,562, commensurate with experience.
